Downtown Indianapolis packs a lot into a small grid: one-way streets, Monument Circle, convention crowds, game-day traffic, the Cultural Trail, rental scooters and IndyGo buses. Our downtown office at 55 S State Ave, Suite 303, keeps us close when something goes wrong.

What makes downtown different
- One-way streets. Visitors turn the wrong way or swing across lanes at the last second to make a turn.
- Monument Circle. Cars circle while pedestrians cross from every side.
- Event days. A Colts, Pacers or Fever game or a big convention fills the streets with drivers who don't usually drive here.
- People everywhere. Walkers, Cultural Trail cyclists and scooter riders share space with cars and delivery trucks.
- Garages and sidewalks. Ramps, stairs and broken pavement are common places for slip and fall injuries.
- Interstate ramps. The rebuilt North Split changed how drivers get on and off I-65 and I-70 at the edge of downtown.
Reports and courts
Downtown crashes are usually handled by IMPD. Here is how to get an IMPD crash report, including the in-person records counter at 50 N. Alabama St. If a case is ever filed, Marion Superior Court's courthouse is at 675 Justice Way, southeast of downtown.
Downtown tip
If you were hit while walking, biking or on a scooter, look up at the buildings around you. Hotels, garages and stores often have cameras facing the street. Write down which ones, so a lawyer can ask them to keep the footage before it is recorded over.
